Superhorse Competition Guidelines

A Superhorse is an event with 4 different types of “events” to enter or choose from.

You must be a member to compete at a Superhorse Championships Event (see 2011 membership application)

Event Entries

Superhorse events are open to anyone wishing to enter any or all of events. You can enter only the shooting event, or you may choose to enter the shooting and the rope & shoot event, or the breakaway, shooting, and rope & shoot on different horses.  Or you may choose to enter all events: barrels, shooting, rope & shoot, and breakaway on a different horse or all on the same horse.  Whichever events you choose is at your discretion and what you ride is your choice, so long as it falls into SHC rules.

Payouts are figured in each go for the  barrels, shooting, rope & shoot, and breakaway.  You will receive winnings in each of these 4 events, depending on which ones you enter.  The Overall Superhorse will also  be paid out for you and the horse combined, therefore, the more events you enter on the same horse, the better the chance for you to win the Overall Superhorse(must be entered in at least to events to qualify) .  We will not combine horses, i.e.  if you ride a different horse for the other events your points will not be combined with any other horse or horses you ride.

All entries must have a completed bio and one of the following attached to your entry: a copy of registration papers, hauling card, health certificate, coggins, or a notarized statement of the horse you are riding along with a description.   If you forget this at the time of entry, you will have 3 days from that events date to have the required paper work faxed or overnighted to the Superhorse office.  If you do not meet this criteria,  your points will not count for that event.

SHC address:  8359 West Tangerine Road, Marana AZ  85658 or fax 520-682-3440

There will be a cut-off entry deadline 1 week prior to every event unless that event has a different policy. If you can't meet this time frame, please contact Entries@superhorsechampionships.com.

There is a $50 late fee, if a deadline is given,  and it is to the board’s discretion whether or not to accept your entry.  Registering early helps plan for the Competition.

Each event will have a flyer describing event location, schedule, site specific rules and directions.

*All entries must be completed on a 2011 SHC entry form.  And turned in to the Superhorse secretary for that event.

Superhorse Competitions

Pro division

Entry fees will vary, depending on events entered.  Barrel Racing entry fee of $45, Mounted Shooting entry fee of $55, Rope & Shoot entry fee of $60, and Breakaway Roping of $55.  Superhorse Directors reserve the right to change these fees if necessary at any time and this is for a 1 go round of each event.

There will be added monies in all Pro events unless otherwise specified.  Each of the 4 events, gender split, will have $100 added ($800 total) along with a portion of the entry fee for payback.  The Overall High Point Horse, gender split, will have $100 added ($200 total). $5 from each event entry (barrels, shoot, rope & shoot, breakaway) will go into the payout for Overall Superhorse Mens or Ladies. For example: you enter the Pro Ladies Barrels for $45, $5 will go to the Pro Ladies Overall Superhorse Payouts.  Overall Superhorse is paid on the cumulative points that horse and rider have received in all events combined.  Pay outs will be in each round of each event, according to fast time. No Average paid out. Points will also be awarded to fast times, up to 10 places.  You must be in at least 2 events to qualify for Overall High Point Horse.

Amateur And Senior Divisions

Entry fees will vary, depending on events entered.  Barrel Racing entry fee of $35, Mounted Shooting entry fee of $45, Rope & Shoot entry fee of $50, and Breakaway Roping of entry fee of $45.

There is no added money to these divisions unless specified otherwise.  Money will be awarded in each round of each event, according to fast time.  No Average paid out.  Points will be also awarded to fast times, up to 10 places.  Overall High Point Horse will be on the cumulative points that horse and rider have received in all events combined.  You must be in at least 2 events to qualify for Overall High Point Horse.

Amateur Division will be gender split.  Senior Division will not be gender split.  If there are less than 3 entries in the Senior Division, you will go into the appropriate gender, Amateur Division.

Novice Division

Entry fee will vary, depending on events entered.  See Amateur and Senior Division fees.  There is no added money to this division.  Its purpose is for someone who is truly new to the sport and would like to try it for the first time.  First time means you have never competed in that event before.  After 2 wins you must move up to the Amateur Division.  No points will be tracked and you may borrow a horse if you like or use your own.  This Division is not gender split.

Paybacks will be at the discretion of the board and will be determined by added money and the amount of entries.

Points are gender specific and will stay with the horse. Ladies will not compete against the men with the exception of the Senior Division or Novice.

In the case that we will have more than one arena available we will run each event simultaneously depending on number of contestants.

There will be 1 go-around minimum for each event.  2011 Finals will be 3 full go rounds of each event.

Horse Sharing: You can ride different horses in different events if you like.  I.E.  Brownie is ridden in the Mounted Shooting Event and Yeller is used in the other 3 events.  A horse may be used twice but not in the same division.  I.E.  If a Pro Mens horse is shared, it cannot be shared with another Pro Mens or Pro Ladies.

Due to the possibility of ownership changing, all points and monies are retained by the horse.  In the case of the rider changing horse in the year, points and monies start over.

*You must be entered at the finals to receive awards and money.
